Introduction to the forging process method for stainless steel flanges

2018-04-20

Stainless steel is a common mechanical industrial product, and flanges are also known as flange flanges. A flange is a component that connects pipes to each other, used for connecting pipe ends; Also used is a flange at the inlet and outlet of the equipment, used for connecting two devices. So it is also called a fastener.
Forged flange is a type of flange product with good mechanical properties. Its raw material is usually pipe blank, which is then cut and continuously hammered to eliminate defects such as segregation and porosity in the steel ingot. The price and mechanical properties are one level higher than ordinary cast flanges. A flange is a component that connects pipes, pipes, and valves to the end of the pipe; It is also used as a flange on the inlet and outlet of equipment, which is a component for connecting pipes to each other between two devices, connected to the pipe end. It is an accessory product of pipelines.

The main materials for forged flanges include carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel. The main standards include national standards, electrical standards, American standards, German standards, Japanese standards, etc. The main anti-corrosion treatments include oil coating and galvanizing. Forged flanges have good pressure and temperature resistance, and are generally suitable for high-pressure and high-temperature working environments.

There are two forging processes for neck welded flanges:

1: Die forging; The steel raw materials will be heated up to 1200C in the heating furnace, and then placed into the corresponding specifications of the mold for forging. The inner hole of 2 "-10" (DN50-DN250) needs to be punched with a specific punch.

2: It's free forging. Raise the temperature of the raw materials in the heating furnace to 1200C, then forge the square materials into a circular cake shape, punch holes, and use specialized equipment (rollers and horse racks) to enlarge the required size of the punched raw materials. Suitable for specifications above DN300-DN3000

The neck of American standard butt welding flanges and German standard butt welding flanges can be pressed into shape during forging. Pressure vessels with Class II welding flanges can also have their necks pressed out.
